Dear Jason,
You don't know me--I'm the invisible "fellow" in upstate New York. I found your cover letter really set up your portfolio for me, and I can't wait to read more. I was particularly struck by the changes in your writing of poetry, since lines from your poem "Where I'm From" really resonant with me as a reader of poetry: from "moonshine and mandolins" and "soldiers and peacemakers." Many of your word choices and lines in your poems resonante in that way with readers like me. Write on! Shirley Lumpkin

I really like you honest evaluation that you often found it difficult in the past to hear people comment on your work. I am glad you have found the value in the experience this summer. Although it can be hard at times it really does help us to improve our writing. You are a very thoughtfull young man and are capable of such amazing things.
